TRIP DESCRIPTION

Ride through "God's Own Route" and leisurely float across the backwaters of Kerala on this timeless Kerala safari. With its evergreen mountains, dense forests, swift flowing rivers, abundant wildlife, extensive backwaters and blue lagoons, Kerala looks like a fairyland. No wonder Kerala has been named by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as one of the “10 Paradises of the World”.

This safari offers rich mix of diverse terrains from tall mountains and deep valleys to endless backwaters and wide sandy beaches and portrayal of the Kerala’s unique culture and rich heritage. The journey starts with a colorful and kinetic performance of kathakali, the classical dance-drama of Kerala, at Kochi beaches. Biking from Kochi to the spice and tea plantations of the Munnar hills is through a green delight of gentle rolling hills, quaint little town and villages.

Among enormous cardamom plants and tea plantations in the rugged Munnar a local expert explains the amazing history of tea. Then it’s off to Thekkady through the stunning Lockhart Gap, with spectacular views of tea gardens and lakes along the way, where we discover the healing powers of Keralan spices with a specialist in ayurvedic medicine. Spices have been integral to Kerala's history.

We take a private nature walk and boat safari in Periyar National Park with an expert guide in search of tigers, mongooses and elephants. The last leg offers the best ride of the trip through rubber and spice plantations with simply heavenly views, combined with a beautiful descend. The trip closes with an unforgettable leisurely float across the backwaters of Kerala aboard your own private houseboat.
